Welcome to Mac Senior Net Auckland Inc

Mac Senior Net is a Not for Profit organisation helping those who are 50+, run by volunteers and under the banner of The Federation of New Zealand Senior Net Societies Inc. We are one of only two clubs that cater specifically to Apple Mac users, which includes relating technology and equipment, security online, and general knowledge and help with navigating the internet safely.

Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at Te Tuhi Arts Centre, 13 Reeves Road, Pakuranga, at 1:30pm and also on the fourth Tuesday of the month at The Community of St Luke’s, 130 Remuera Rd at 2pm.

We offer a help desk 1 hour prior to our monthly meetings, where you can seek help with your devices or discuss club matters.

We offer small group learning sessions run by our more experienced members that are available to tutor. We also offer individual one-on-one sessions which can be arranged to suit both your ability and interests at a time agreed between you and the tutor. A small charge for each lesson is used to support and cover club cost.

History

Mac Senior Net was formed in 2001 after The Senior Net movement was established, but offering help for PC computers only.

Founder members Art Weeds and Douglas Peacock placed an advertisement in a Community newspaper which was received with such great enthusiasm by Mac owners that it was decided to apply for registration as an Incorporated Society which was approved on the 16th February 2001 and Mac Senior Net was born.

The first monthly meeting was held in the Highland Park Community Centre and lessons were given in a member's house on borrowed Macs. Membership grew, funding was obtained and computers were bought

With membership growing, in 2011 a venue was found for those in the central city with regular meetings being held at The Community of St Luke’s, and Howick moved their meetings to Te Tuhi Art Centre.
